PhD research is a central and exciting part of the Department of Media and Communication research culture. We offer a broad range of research skills that are tailored to the needs of the individual student who may be undertaking study in (but not limited to) communications studies, media studies, journalism studies, digital arts, cultural studies, or film studies.
Our PhD programme sits within the Communication and Media Research Institute (CAMRI), which has a long-established reputation for producing world-leading research. We have 25 supervising staff and over 50 doctoral researchers, whose projects cover the full range of CAMRI interests, critically exploring the political, economic, social, and cultural significance of the media across the globe.
